Hi I'm Claire

Potter, Teacher & Artist

I graduated from Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication in 1985 and set up my own studio, selling wares under my own name and selling in local Galleries and Greenwich market. I've been teaching ever since, and love the challenge!

I've always loved teaching, communicating skills and describing & analysing processes. I taught at several London establishments as an independent craftswoman and  'Artist in Residence' in my earlier career. I've also been a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen, but prefer my own  independence in my quest for authenticity

I established my business "The Portable Pottery Company", in 2012, after facing redundancy from a long term commitment to King Edwards School Witley, where I was also Head of Department for several years.

I've always strived to foster imagination and creativity in the art studios and environments that I've organised, and taught in. My quest is to help students create beautifully crafted ceramics to the best of their ability, in organised and safe spaces.

Whether you’re coming in to spend a couple of hours, the whole day, or to truly exploit your talent regularly... you’ll find a beautiful studio awaiting you where the world is your oyster.

Established in 2012, I've since been creating bespoke ceramic designs and nurturing others to take the challenge of exploring clay, and also inspiring budding potters to start up their own studios for themselves.
