My Craft Values

A 'Home from Home' Studio for Potters

All artists and craftspeople need a designated space in which to create, to inspire and support their creative process.

I understand how important it is to create in the right environment, and that is what I strive to provide in my studio at The Portable Pottery.

If you’re looking for a creative place that nurtures your pottery journey, look no further; I'm here for you to guide you on your journey and can’t wait to see what you can create!

Services

I specialise in throwing on the Potters Wheel.

Whether you're looking to learn, or you're looking for an experience, expert advice, renting a mobile potters wheel or looking for firing services.

I can also come to your venue to hold a private Pottery Event.

INTRODUCTORY LESSON

Suitable for Beginners or Advanced Students

This lesson is suitable for all.

It can be shared by up to two people at no extra cost. £90

The 2 Hour introductory lesson includes a full demonstration of the process of throwing clay on the potters wheel, and also the turning and application of banded slip. There is then time for you to make at least 2 pots of your own.

Your pots are expertly trimmed, coloured in exactly your own mix of slip.

They are then glazed and fired, ready for collection 4 weeks after your lesson.

The Future I See

JOIN in on The Mud Fun!

The Portable Pottery Company is run by Claire Waterhouse; a well respected and thriving potter, based in Godalming, UK. She has a history of commitment toward her students, both past and present. Whilst dedicated to producing her own ceramic designs, and involvement in community workshops, she is also devoted to bringing the best out in her students, whether complete beginners, or more advanced.

Offering classes to adults, teens and children in both group settings and private lessons, there’s something for anyone looking to foster their inner creativity.

"I strive to instil creativity and teach form and function to all artists and guests that come to the Portable Pottery Studio seeking a fun, relaxing, and well rounded artistic experience.

The future I foresee, involves us living in the present, remembering our past, and embracing the use of our hands to create, and reconnect with Mother Earth.

Clay is a completely sustainable base material; it is also continually recycled, so no waste! It's a natural gift for us all to enjoy. It's all about reconnecting back to the natural elements, to enjoy the Mud Fun and hands on human experience"
